The Huangshan site

Date Posted: 2024-11-13

The Huangshan site is located in the north of Huangshan village, Pushan town, Nanyang, Henan province, which covers more than 50 hectares. From 2008 to 2024, 4,180 square meters of the site were excavated, and more than 1,300 well-preserved ruins from the Yangshao Culture period to the Qujialing Culture period were discovered.

Among the most representative findings are clusters of jade workshops, high-class tombs, and an artificial canal dock. Additionally, tens of thousands of jade-processing tools, semi-finished jades, and various jades, potteries and bone artifacts were unearthed. Based on these ruins and relics above, it is confirmed that the site used to be a central settlement for jade processing, filling a significant gap in the study of Jade Culture in the Central Plain and Jianghan Plain of ancient China. The Huangshan site has been awarded numerous honors, including “China’s New Archaeological Discoveries of 2021”.
