This report on the archaeological data of the six tombs in Group M2009 was drafted on the basis of strictly following the scientific procedures and conducting a careful analysis and detailed study of the original materials in a meticulously arranged, accurately depicted and thoroughly investigated manner, providing a comprehensive and systematic publication of the data that should be made public. The photographs and line graphs are clear and precise, with illustrations and text descriptions well-coordinated. Meanwhile, the report combines archaeological data with historical records of the Guo State (9th century BC-7th century BC), and discusses in detail such aspects of the Guo State cemetery as chronological phases of the tombs, social status of the tomb owners, and their interrelationships, demonstrating a high level of scholarship. In particular, the report makes full use of technological means and information resources and conducts identification and scientific research on bronze ware, ironware, and jade ware unearthed, providing precise and credible research materials for the study of the history of craftsmanship during the Zhou Dynasty (1046 BC-256 BC). These efforts not only contribute to further in-depth research on the history and culture of the Guo State and the Zhou Dynasty, but also set a good example for the compilation of China’s archaeological reports in the future.
