Guangzhou Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology Visits Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology for Research and Communication

To enhance the construction of the “Guangzhou Workstation of the Key Scientific Research Base on Urban Archaeology and the Protection Supported by National Administration of Cultural Heritage”, to strengthen academic exchanges and collaboration in urban archaeology, scientific and technological archaeology, and the protection, exhibition and publicity of cultural relics, a five-member research team visited Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology from April 9 to 12. This team included: Huang Hongliu, Party Branch Secretary of the Communist Party of China of Guangzhou Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, Chen Xin, Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Cao Yaowen, Director of the Department of Archaeological Research, Wang Siyu, Department of Exhibition and Promotion, Zhang Xiong, Department of Archaeological Research.
On April 9, a meeting was held on the first floor of the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology. Shen Feng, Secretary of the Communist Party of China of Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology, Hu Zhaojian, Vice President of Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology and others attended the meeting. The two parties engaged in a practical discussion about the construction of the “Guangzhou Workstation of the Key Scientific Research Base on Urban Archaeology and the Protection Supported by National Administration of Cultural Heritage”. They also conducted a comprehensive discussion on research program application, future academic conferences, exhibitions, talent training, and other areas of collaboration, which further promotes cooperation and exchange between the two parties.

Following the meeting, the research team visited the exhibition halls of ceramic ware, institute history, and significant archaeological discoveries at the Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology. They also conducted on-site research and investigation at the Zhengzhou Shang Dynasty City Ruins.

The research and communication of the Guangzhou Institute of Cultural Heritage and Archaeology made outstanding achievements, which not only strengthened the academic interaction between the personnel of the two parties, but also further advanced the exchanges and cooperation in the fields of archaeological excavation, cultural relics protection, academic exchanges, and exhibitions. The meeting also developed the promotion, construction, and function of the workstation of the Key Scientific Research Base on Urban Archaeology and the Protection Supported by National Administration of Cultural Heritage, which laid a key foundation for deepening the research theory and technical methods of urban archaeology and protection, carrying out research on cultural heritage protection, and promoting the development of urban archaeology. Relying on the Key Scientific Research Base on Urban Archaeology and the Protection Supported by National Administration of Cultural Heritage, it promotes the sharing of resources and improves the level of cultural heritage protection, exhibition and utilization through the cooperation of projects and topics between the two institutions, and provides theoretical support and practical experience for the scientific research and operation of urban archaeology and cultural heritage protection in the country.
