A Delegation from Art Exhibitions China and Hong Kong Museum of History Visited Henan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology (HPICHA)

On July 2, Shi Wanghuan, Deputy Director of the Cultural and Creative Industry Development Division of Art Exhibitions China, and Ho Wai Yee, Chief Curator of the Hong Kong Museum of History, led a delegation to visit HPICHA for a forum on the planned special exhibition of cultural relics from the Liao, Song, Western Xia and Yuan dynasties to be held in Hong Kong. Gu Wanfa, Director of HPICHA, and Yang Wensheng, Deputy Director of HPICHA, together with core staff from relevant departments, attended the forum.

During the forum, representatives from the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center and the Hong Kong Museum of History presented the exhibition preparation plan. Drawing on Henan’s abundant archaeological resources, Gu Wanfa and Yang Wensheng offered professional advice covering exhibition narratives, artifact screening, display layout design and cultural relic display specifications. Professional personnel from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions.

Before the forum, Gu Wanfa and Yang Wensheng escorted the visiting delegation on a tour of the archaeological specimen room. They delivered an on-site briefing on unearthed relic specimens from the Liao, Song, Western Xia and Yuan dynasties excavated in Henan, with targeted exchanges on the archaeological context and academic value of these artifacts.

This exchange has laid a solid academic groundwork for the preparation of the special themed exhibition and further deepened the friendly cooperative ties between cultural heritage institutions in Henan and Hong Kong.
